COMMISSIONED/SOLD
This is a painting done at the request of the photographer. It is based upon a photo taken by Rick Mazer of his backyard in late December 2021, during one of the many stunning sunsets in Scottsdale, Arizona that Rick has captured so well with his camera.
Scottsdale is a beautiful desert city located in the northeast section of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Scottsdale is well known for its numerous spectacular golf courses, high end luxury resorts and spas, dozens of art galleries, fabulous car shows, upscale homes and lovely desert wilderness areas.

The Scottsdale desert landscape features the majestic columnar saguaro cactus, several of which are depicted in this painting. The saguaro cactus is found exclusively in the Sonoran Desert and can live to be 150 - 200 years old. Saguaro are very slow growing and can take 10 years to reach one inch in height. They are the largest cactus in the United States and eventually grow to be about 40 – 60 feet tall, with the tallest recorded at 78 feet. Saguaro do not begin to grow arms until they are close to 100 years old.
