My friend, Cathleen Tierney, asked me to do a painting of her darling cat, Sophia, who passed away suddenly in March 2023. Although no amount of time can erase the memory of a beloved pet and companion, Cathleen wanted her memorialized in a painting. Cathleen always has been an avid cat lover, however, she was especially close to Sophia, as Sophia had provided her with constant companionship, love, and happiness since Cathleen’s retirement in 2013. A quote from Cathleen: “If there is a heaven, I am certain that Sophia is there. Her every day existence had become so interwoven with my own, it will take more than an archangel to detangle them.”
